is a short film based on Karel Jaromír Erben's poem.

I was captivated by the concept of dream like yet mysterious room where the treasures would appear (Poklad = treasure in czech). After a short discussion with the DoP and director, I decided to portray the treasure as a magical table. The base of the table was covered with black velvet and light layers of organza to give it a magical shine and airy look.

The contents on the table changed 3 times according to script.

1- simple table : bread + baby milk bottle

2- shoes, dress, milk bottle, apples, baby cart - buggy

3- treasures - accessories : rings, earings, necklaces, bracelets, wine + glass, fancy chopped ham, grapes

The rest of the space was covered with black fabric to hide walls so that it appeared like a nondeterminate area.

One sequence included insanity. To express this mood we used a large bag of feathers and a fan to blow them all over the place.

Room of a poor woman who gets spoiled by the treasures she finds.

The location was perfect to start with. Shabby walls with smudges, creaky furniture and dirty floor. To add a bit of life into it I brought some chests, newspapers, mugs, fabrics, toys for children. POKLAD is not a period / historical movie, despite the style of props used, it is more like an art piece.

Fancy dress for the mother

Director wanted a beautiful dress that would appear light, fancy and interesting to dance in.

In order to fulfil all of the requirements, I sewn the dress from the scratch since the production was running out of time and needed to get something as fast as possible.
